At this stage a measured survey needs to be undertaken, either by ourselves or a commissioned specialist. We then begin with site analysis looking at views, light, access, environmental influences and setting, also taking into consideration planning constraints. These factors are brought together with the project brief from which we produce an initial concept design illustrated with diagrams, sketch layouts, and mood boards which describe design influences, size and shape, materials, textures and colours.

These initial ideas are developed into an outline scheme establishing layout proposals through scaled plans, models and illustrations, providing a clearer understanding of sizes, shapes and spaces. These proposals can be reviewed with local authority planners, and cost guidance obtained, in order to the project’s feasibility.
