On Being Brave

What makes us extra proud of our clients

We admire our clients because they take the brave decisions to step away from the ordinary and take on all the risk this involves by choosing and challenging the status quo.

  • They choose to go for a deep retrofit on an old house, because they know that it is the right thing to do to reduce energy use.

  • They choose to build Passivhaus highly energy efficient homes, because it is the right thing to do for all our futures.

  •  They choose to undertake careful restoration their Grade 2* listed building and landscape to secure its future for others.

  •  They choose to knock down and replace an old energy sapping, poorly laid out house in the Green Belt and replace it with a new home to their own specification, instead of simply extend.

  •  They choose to build a new house in the countryside, with all the expectations this entails, because the care about quality and innovation above all things.

  •  They choose to do all these things and we are with them every step of their often slightly bumpy journeys.

We truly care about our clients and agonies over every aspect; whether it is ensuring the right team is in place to achieve planning consent, the ethics of supply and integrity of design are kept, even when costs are tight at construction and always, and importantly, our professional support is targeted in order to deliver quality and value.

If in the end, the joy of the initial idea still shines through in the finished article, we have surely all done our jobs. Our clients form the basis of every design team and lead the process, we are here to guide, support and enable the project. As a practice we say we are bold, but maybe we mean brave, and we need these amazing people to work with us, because they push the boundaries of what is expected in terms of design, planning and performance and make the brave choice.
