The Old Fleece Inn: listed pub gets the go-ahead

Austin Design Works are joining forces with Cotswold Food Club to remodel this well-loved Grade II Listed public house. David Austin worked with Stroud District Planning Authority (SDC) to arrive at a proposal everyone was happy with. We have been working with Nick and Christoph for many years now on their various public house adventures, many of which are in very old buildings, and this is one of our favourites.

Changes include a new entrance lobby, cellar and extension to provide additional dining space, as well as an upgrade to the WCs and existing bar area. Austin Design Works provided all heritage consultancy services for this project.

Striking the balance right between what is needed by the Conservation Officer and the business is always a balancing act. David has a long-running relationship with SDC and they know that David’s deep understanding and knowledge of how heritage buildings go together is always celebrated in his designs. We are looking forward to the challenge of managing the building work whilst the pub is in operation, and of course, a lovely pint when the dust settles.
