Eco-friendly Office Garden

The Austin Design Works office is located in the busy town centre of Nailsworth. The new gravel garden was designed to solve a number of problems as well as give a distinctive setting to the old warehouse building.

Beautiful and bold Corten steel planters placed on the perimetre were designed to prevent cars rolling into the garden and damaging plans (something that previously would happen a lot!).

A bispoke bin store to hide our office bins has a green roof as well as providing a base for our electric car charing point. The green roof is planted with thyme and other scented plants that are also bee friendly.

The gravel garden has easy to maintain ground cover plants. Shells and larger stones mixed in with the gravel suggest a playfulness and provide additional texture.

A flowering and fruiting Amelanchier tree provides further seasonal interest. Many of the plants are self-sown, allowing the garden to slowly evolve as the plants move and establish themselves year-on-year.
