A sustainable and contemporary rural family home

Our client had always seen the potential in this neglected bungalow, cold, damp, yet perfectly placed in its beautifully lush hilltop setting.

Passivhaus principles guided the transformation of this bungalow into an extremely energy-efficient family home that celebrates its rural setting at every turn.

“We have always had the dream of building our own house and Austin Design Works were top of the list when it came to choosing an architect. We liked everything about their unique ethos and designs and the whole process was seamless and enjoyable. From instruction, full debrief, to coming up with ideas and planning, which went through easily, we were kept informed throughout. ADW were always receptive to us and did everything they could to deliver our dream house and we would thoroughly recommend them.”

“We can have an environmentally-friendly house with great insulation values and airtightness so we rarely need to have the heating on, we’re warming rooms up with our body heat… I wanted great design and an environmentally-responsible house – and, thanks to Austin Design Works, we’ve got it.”
